Katerina Tsoukalas-Heitkemper is a partner in the HOA/Condominium & Common Interest Community Association Law practice. Her practice includes extensive experience and deep knowledge of all areas of civil litigation, collections, bankruptcy and foreclosures.
Her practice areas include Condominium & Common Interest Community Association Law, Landlord Tenant Law, HOA and Condominium Collections. In 2004, she received her J.D. from Texas A&M University School of Law. She currently works out of Tressler’s Bolingbrook office.

What was your first job?
Account representative at a collection agency in high school (go figure – I’ve been called the queen of collection as a lawyer!)
Do you have any hidden talents and/or unique hobbies?
I can craft just about anything I put my mind to – Pinterest, beware!
What is on your bucket list?
Skydive before my 40th birthday!
Why did you decide to become an attorney?
I did a famous person presentation on Sandra Day O’Connor in 5th grade and told everyone that I want to be just like her when I grow up…its helps that I love to argue!
What does a typical workday look like for you?
In a nutshell – I start off with good intentions of accomplishing normal tasks –draft letters, respond to e-mails and return phone calls, but it quickly turns into “Let me drop everything and work on your problem” – never a dull moment with our HOA clients!
Why did you choose your areas of practice?
I set my heart on being a criminal defense attorney – it took stepping up on a case at 26th & California in Cook County as a law clerk to quickly change my mind and switch to real property law – my second favorite class in law school!
What do you like most about Tressler?
The ability to pick-up the phone and ask any lawyer – whether its California or Chicago – for advice on a case – everyone is great!
What are you most proud of, professionally and/or personally?
Being able to juggle a full-time law practice (with the help of my amazing partner, associates and support staff!) while being a wife and mom to 3 kids.
